Extension Care

Congratulations on your new extensions!

To keep them looking beautiful and protect your natural hair, follow these simple tips:

Daily Care

  • Brush gently twice daily with your extension-safe brush (hold at the root with your opposite hand to avoid tension on the roots).

  • Always detangle before bed and before washing. Use a detangling spray/leave-in conditioner for the best results.

  • Sleep with hair in a loose braid or ponytail to prevent tangling.

  • Secure your hair in a ponytail or braid BEFORE any physical activities.

 Washing

** Do not wash your hair until 48 hours after the application of Keratin Fusion or Tape-In install**

  • Wash no more than 3 times per week (not daily). If you are prone to an oily scalp, use a sulfate-free dry shampoo on the scalp, and dry conditioner on the mids and ends.

  • Use the sulfate-free, extension-safe shampoo & conditioner in your care kit. Apply shampoo to the root area and gently massage to remove product build-up. Rinse without vigorous scrubbing to avoid tangling. Apply conditioner to the mids/ends of the hair and avoid the root area.

  • Use a hair mask once a week for deeper conditioning.

  • Ensure hair is fully dry before sleeping; secure in a loose braid or ponytail.

 Styling

  • ALWAYS use heat protectant before hot tools.

  • Avoid direct heat on the bond or weft.

  • Do not flat iron tape in or keratin bonds; start each pass below the bond area.

  • Avoid products that contain: alcohol, protein, and sulfates. Ask us for recommendations!

  • Be gentle—extensions can’t repair themselves like natural hair!

Maintenance

  • Move-up appointments are scheduled every 6–8 weeks.

  • Don’t try to remove extensions yourself. Call us first!

  • Contact us right away if you notice slipping, tangling, or discomfort at the bond site. The first few days after application, you will notice some tension/tightness at the application site. This is normal and will subside after a few days.

 Remember

  • BEFORE swimming in chlorinated or salt water:

    • Soak your hair thoroughly with clean water.

    • Apply conditioner or leave-in conditioner onto your hair to create a protective barrier against chlorine or salt absorption.

    • After getting out of the water, immediately wash your hair thoroughly.

  • Sun exposure can strip pigments from your extensions just like your natural hair, leading to dryness, frizziness, and tangling. To avoid this, keep sun exposure to a minimum or wear a hat. Use a leave-in with UV protection benefits.

  • Avoid using chemical-based sunscreens on your face and skin, as they may transfer unwanted pink/orange tones to your hair with a chemical reaction. Use mineral sunscreens only.

Extensions are an investment in you—proper care keeps them looking natural, lasting longer, and protecting your own hair. Remember, they aren’t just about adding length and fullness—they’re about boosting confidence, style, and convenience!
